In the kingdom of Bacchalia (a present-day Italian monarchy which exists solely because of a zoning oversight), Lady Diaspora, the kingdom’s regent, plays matchmaker for her niece in order to provide the kingdom with an heir. Meanwhile, her niece (Princess Brook) plots an escape in order to pursue her dream of going to college. Antics ensue, including disguises, faked deaths, and an ex machina that breaks the fourth wall. Hilariously alternating between high diction in iambic pentameter and our contemporary common tongue, this self-aware play parodies and honors the comedies of Shakespeare.
